About
A quiet public tennis court tucked beside Kansen-en Park in Shinjuku, surrounded by greenery that makes it feel more like a retreat than a city court. With just two courts it has a relaxed, community feel and is popular with local groups, while benches and a water fountain right outside make it an easy, low-key spot for a match.
Courts & conditions
Two outdoor sand-filled artificial-turf courts, resurfaced in a recent renewal, with reviewers noting good drainage and a surface that plays neither too fast nor too slow. There are no floodlights, so play is limited to daylight hours, and the perimeter fencing is on the lower side, so balls can occasionally go out of the court.
Good to know
Court access requires a Shinjuku ward-issued registration card, which anyone can apply for in person to make bookings; reservations are handled through the ward's facility booking system with a lottery process for regular groups. Changing rooms are located inside the court area, and there's a simple shower and restrooms on site. Summer visitors should be prepared for insects given the park-side, tree-lined setting.
