About the venue

A rooftop tennis school atop Seibu department store in Ikebukuro, prized above all for its unbeatable transit access right by Ikebukuro Station. It's a members' rental-court and lesson setup, drawing a mostly middle-aged and older crowd, with a handy 8th-floor café for a break between sessions.

On court

Rooftop courts on the 9th floor of Seibu Ikebukuro, with four outdoor courts total (reviews describe three hard and one omni/artificial-turf). Rain can suspend play even after it clears if the surface hasn't dried. Night lessons are offered, so the courts are lit for evening play.

Before you go

Membership is required to rent a court; the entry fee lasts three years and is waived for ages 65 and over. Reserve and pay at the ninth-floor tennis desk. Its reception hours are Monday–Friday 09:30–21:00, Saturday 08:10–19:00 and Sunday 08:10–18:00; confirm court-play hours separately with the school.
