About
A historic, members-only lawn tennis club in Minato, Tokyo, set right beside Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park. Long associated with Japan's imperial family, it draws a genteel crowd for outdoor clay-court tennis and club coaching, with players enjoying the open sky and greenery around the grounds.
Courts & conditions
Ten clay courts (one a singles-only court) sit outdoors, built with arakida clay — the same soil used on sumo rings. Five of the courts have night lighting, with play running until around 21:00 most evenings, and there's also a practice board on site.
Good to know
This is a members-only club: joining requires recommendation from two existing regular members with 1–3+ years of tenure. Visitors may only play accompanied by a member and with a reservation in advance. Coaching (private and group lessons) is available to regular and family members through the club's own coaches.
