McCarren Park Tennis Courts is a public tennis center inside Brooklyn's McCarren Park, run by a private vendor that puts up a heated winter bubble over the courts each season. It's open to everyone — sign up for outdoor courts in summer or book an indoor reservation come winter — with lessons, stringing, and a pro shop on site for players who want more than just a court.

Courts & conditions

Indoors, 7 hard courts are enclosed in a bubble for the indoor season (the day after Columbus Day through April 27) and can be rented for a fee. In summer, 6 hard outdoor courts are available to NYC Parks tennis permit holders. Players rate the indoor lighting as above average, though outdoor evening light is limited to a designated class area.

Good to know

Reserve online through a CourtReserve account (a credit/debit card on file is required) — walk-ins aren't accepted for indoor bookings. In the outdoor season, 2 courts can be reserved in advance online while the other 5 are sign-up only. The center also offers private lessons, stringing, and a pro shop, with lesson rates from $193/hr for private instruction up to $220/hr for group lessons.
